Every tree we sell was planted, trimmed and cut on this farm, and cut the same day it goes home with you.

Fraser Fir

Abies fraseri

The tree that built the farm. Dark green needles with silvery undersides, a classic tapered shape and the best needle retention of any Christmas tree.

Needles
Soft, flat, ½–1 inch, silver underneath. Excellent retention.
Scent
Clean, sweet and unmistakably Christmas.
Branches
Firm and slightly upturned. Holds heavy ornaments with ease.
Best for
Families with a lot of ornaments, and anyone who wants the tree up from Thanksgiving to New Year.

Soft & full

White Pine

Pinus strobus

Long, feathery blue-green needles and a full, billowy silhouette. Very little fragrance, which makes it a favorite in allergy-sensitive homes.

Long, soft, in bundles of five. Good retention.
Scent
Mild.
Branches
Flexible. Best with lighter ornaments and lots of lights.
Best for
A soft, full look and homes where a strong scent is not welcome.

Citrus scent

Concolor Fir

Abies concolor

Also called White Fir. Long, curved blue-green needles and a surprising orange-citrus fragrance when you brush against it.

Needles
Long, curved, blue-green. Very good retention.
Scent
Bright citrus.
Branches
Sturdy and evenly spaced. Easy to decorate.
Best for
A slightly different look and scent, with Fraser-like durability.

How we grow

Ten summers of hand work.

We plant two-year-old seedlings by hand every spring, thousands at a time. From then on each tree is mowed around, protected from deer, and trimmed by hand every summer so it fills in dense and even.

Around year nine we start tagging the best ones. When you pick a tree, we cut it that day, shake it, bale it and help you load it. Wholesale orders are cut the same week they ship.

After winning the Virginia Christmas Tree Growers Association’s “prettiest tree” contest, three of our Frasers were chosen for the Virginia Executive Mansion. The year before, we made the mansion’s wreaths.

Once it’s home

Keeping it fresh through New Year.

Fresh cut

We cut your tree the day you take it home. If it waits more than a few hours, saw a half inch off the base before it goes in the stand.

Water, then water again

A fresh Fraser can drink a gallon on the first day. Keep the stand full and never let it run dry.

Keep it cool

Away from heat vents, fireplaces and south-facing windows the tree stays fresh for weeks.

Lights last

Let the branches settle overnight before you decorate. LED lights run cooler and are kinder to the needles.
